Dior Grege Lipstick & Earth Reflection Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

On a lovely trip to Chester the other day, I initially went into Debenhams to pick up a few bits from MAC. Being the weak individual that I am, I was drawn to the Dior counter, yet again! After umm-ing and ahh-ing for what seemed like hours to my boyfriend - I'd say it was actually about 10 minutes, maximum - I decided to purchase a gorgeous palette of five eyeshadows and another Rouge Dior Nude lipstick, much to my OH's disapproval. Now, to show you my wares.

Dior offers a wide variety of different colours and finishes within their 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette range. Personally, I tend to go for neutral colours in palettes and purchase brighter colours individually, as I use them a lot less. My choice this time round, Earth Reflection contains only shimmery shadows, which may not be to everyone's taste, but I just couldn't resist it, especially as metallics are always a trend in Autumn/Winter. With all of the colours complimenting each other well, this palette is so versatile, allowing you to create numerous looks. When travelling, I could happily just take this palette with me to cover every eventuality. Each shade is cool-toned, unlike the majority of bronze/brown eyeshadows that I own already, which is what makes this palette so special in my collection.

All of the shadows are soft, smooth and blend so easily onto the eye. Above, I've used the shadows (all but the pink shade) in a subtle, daytime look, but you can easily build up the colours to deepen them (or even use a damp brush with them), to create something more dramatic for the evening. As expected from Dior, the packaging is sleek and sophisticated. The eyeshadows themselves are printed with the Dior Cannage, quilted pattern and the iconic CD lettering. At £40 for just 6g of product, this is on the expensive side. I know I will get a lot of use out of this palette though, so I'm not feeling too guilty.

So, when I last wrote about the Rouge Dior Lipsticks, in this post, I mentioned that I had my eye on a couple of the other shades, Twill and Esquisse. After much deliberation at the Dior counter, I eventually plumped for the lipstick that headlines the collection, Grege, which I was not expecting. To be honest, it was the absolutely divine campaign images of Natalie Portman sporting the shade, that sold it to me. This colour is a stunning, soft peachy nude and not at all the cool-toned, grey-beige I thought it would be. Although the shade is lighter than my natural lip colour, the warm undertones prevent it from making me looking washed out or dead. I do love these Rouge Dior lipsticks and to find out why, in more depth, check out my Sillage post, which is linked above.

Dior is slowly becoming one of my favourite high end makeup brands! What do you think of Dior makeup?
