MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush Review + Swatch

Whilst I have an abundant collection of blushes in my stash and can't help but buy more whenever I'm shopping and another stunning shade catches my eye, I have a small selection of about five that I go back to, time and time again. MAC's Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul is definitely up there with some of my all-time favourite cheek colours and it could possibly take my number one spot.

Having so many blushes, it's extremely rare for me to finish an entire pan, let alone hit the bottom of one. Aside from any favourites that have smashed or been lost and needed replacing, the only blush I've ever fully finished and repurchased, is Warm Soul. Not just once, but three times. Speaks volumes really, doesn't it?

One of those blushes that never steals the limelight, but subtly pulls together your look and polishes off your base, Warm Soul is so easy to wear. No matter what makeup look I create, I can guarantee that this blush will always compliment it, whether I'm wearing something bright and bold or toned-down.

A pinky-bronze shade, shot through with tiny, gold shimmers, Warm Soul is a colour that's flattering on everyone. Although it has that pink hue to it, the colour is more neutral and simply adds a touch of healthy, natural-looking warmth to the cheeks, on my skin-tone. For anyone paler, that pink tone will stand out more and, for anyone with much darker skin, it would make a gorgeous, warm highlight! The finely-milled shimmer adds a lovely, luminous glow to the skin, allowing you to skip highlighter if you want to keep your routine to a minimum.

Not only does the baked formula create that gorgeous, marbled effect, but it also means the pigmentation is soft and sheer, so it's nigh on impossible to apply too much colour in one go. To achieve a stronger finish, it's easy to layer the product without it looking cakey. Texture-wise, the blush is quite dry and firm compared to others, but that's common with all baked formulas. Despite the slightly chalkier consistency, the blush applies beautifully, blends evenly and feels like velvet on the skin. When swirling a brush across the blush, some excess is kicked-up, but as long as you make sure to tap any off before applying, there isn't usually a problem with glittery fall-out leaving you looking like a disco ball.

I've always considered MAC to sit somewhere in the middle of the high-street and high-end markets, but the brand are fond of regularly increasing their prices when you're not expecting it and now they're definitely heading towards the premium end of the spectrum. Over the years, the Mineralize Blushes have soared in cost and will now set you back £22 for 3.2g (even less than the 3.5g you used to get when they cost under £20!). But, despite their sneaky ways and steep setback, I'm head over heels in love with this blush and it's a total necessity in my makeup bag. More fool me for repurchasing it over and over again, I guess!
