MAC Breezy Blush Review + Swatch

If you had a rifle through my makeup collection and found my blush drawer, you'd notice that I have a penchant for peachy-pinks. Shades like Benefit Coralista, Nars Sex Appeal and Tom Ford's Love Lust are some of my favourites, but they aren't necessarily winter appropriate. On a recent hunt for a more classic, autumnal hue in my local MAC store, I stumbled across this beauty. MAC's Breezy Sheertone Shimmer Blush is a deep plum shade, which is basically the ideal colour to compliment the plethora of berry-toned lipsticks currently weighing down my makeup bag.

MAC describe Breezy as a plum with pearl, but I feel it's much more multi-dimensional than that. In some lights and at different angles it looks purple, then more of a raspberry, and then more red.  However you see it, it's an intimidating shade. Even for a blush addict who's confident with their application. Fortunately, thanks to the formula and decent helping of golden shimmer running through it, it's much less scary to work with. On my skin, which has a warm/yellow undertone, I find the berry/red tones stand out the most. Of course, how it looks on everyone will vary, depending on your complexion. But, it's a versatile shade that suits both paler girls and darker skin-tones.

Texture-wise, the powder is super satiny soft and smooth that it almost feels like a cream product to the touch. As a result, it blends effortlessly. It's not at all dusty and doesn't kick up a load of chalky excess when you swirl your brush across the pan. As with most of the MAC blushes in my collection, Breezy lasts on the skin really well, particularly if you've built up the colour on your cheek to start with. On an everyday basis, it wears for a good eight hours on my cheeks, before it starts to fade.

The sheertone shimmer formula is exactly what it says on the tin compact. Although the colour appears quite strong when swatched with your finger, the finish isn't anywhere near as intense when used with a fluffy brush. Breezy may be a daring hue, but the powder is fairly sheer and only adds a hint of colour with a light sweep of your brush. Although it takes a while to build-up and perfect, I love that it allows you to layer the colour up to your desired intensity, without applying too much in one go and not being able to correct it. As for the shimmer element, the finish really isn't as glitzy as you may expect. Despite being packed with glimmering flecks, they're so finely-milled and create more of a pearlescent sheen. In the cloudy, bleak weather, this blush adds a welcome glow to the cheeks and instantly brightens up the face.

As I've said before, the MAC packaging is plain and simple, as it is what's inside that counts. You can purchase this blush in pan form to slot into a custom palette, but I like to buy my MAC blushes in single form, so that I can pop them into my makeup bag individually.

Unfortunately, MAC seem to like increasing their prices and this blush gives your purse quite a beating, at £17.50 for only 6g of product. But, even so, the quality is so good that I just can't help but go back for more and they do last a considerably long time, especially if you change up your makeup products on a daily basis, like myself.
