If there's one skincare product that's non-negotiable in my daily routine, it's SPF, but I must admit that I've been fairly fickle in my loyalties to specific brands or products previously. With such a high calibre of sunscreens now available, it takes a really special new launch to grab my attention. Enter Heaven Skincare's Prism Protection SPF50+*, which is a moisturiser and SPF hybrid that took a whopping three years to develop and does so much more than your basic facial sunscreen. Celebrity facialist Deborah Mitchell is the wonder woman behind Heaven Skincare, a brand which impressively holds a royal warrant. If Deborah's skincare line is good enough for her directory of A-list clients, from Queen Camilla to Victoria Beckham, I had to give her latest royal treatment a go for myself!

What Makes Prism Protection Stand Out?
Prism Protection isn't your average SPF - it's a dermatologically-tested daily treatment designed to take the fuss out of your AM skincare routine all year round, consolidating the benefits of multiple skincare products into one single bottle. You don't need to layer four different serums, moisturiser, SPF and then makeup primer with this product - it does it all. Not only does the moisturiser offer high protection from sun damage with an SPF50+ UVA/UVB shield, but it also works to visibly improve your skin with every application. Containing multiple hero ingredients, this moisturiser is a one stop shop for all your skin needs, whatever your skin type. The formula works to brighten, refine skin texture, calm redness and plump. Looking to fade hyperpigmentation? This formula doesn't simply prevent dark spots from getting worse but works to actively fade them. And those that tested Prism Protection in clinical trials certainly back up Heaven Skincare's claims - 88% of people noticed a brighter and more even skin tone after just four weeks of use, and 92% agreed that skin felt smoother after first use.
Prism Protection's most notable ingredients include:
Niacinamide to even skin tone, balance sebum and minimise the appearance of large pores.
Cotton stem cells which offer a high concentration of peptides and antioxidants to protect from external stressors (e.g., pollution, UV damage and blue light) and support the skin's natural repair processes.
Pro-vitamin B5 to soothe and strengthen the skin's barrier.
Multi-weight hyaluronic acid which drenches the skin at varying levels to provide both immediate and long-lasting hydration, boosting skin hydration by +72% after one hour and preventing transepidermal water loss.
How Does Prism Protection Feel?
You'd maybe expect a product packed with so many benefits to feel heavy or greasy, but Prism Protection has a slick, lightweight lotion consistency. The texture isn't so thin that the moisturiser absorbs completely and leaves the skin thirsty for more, but it doesn't overload, either. There's no oiliness to the formula, but the light layer of juiciness left behind on the skin helps your face to feel comfortable and plumped all day long. The SPF is described as having a soft-matte finish, but I'd actually say it imparts a healthy, natural-looking radiance. Such high-protection SPFs can often leave a chalky residue or white cast behind, however Prism Protection is totally undetectable on my skin (although it is very fair) after only a few seconds of blending.
Heaven Skincare's newest launch is applied as the very last step in your skincare routine, prior to any makeup. I will say that, on first trying Prism Protection, I noticed that the daily skin treatment would start to pill if I applied multiple pumps at once due to my skin type being so dry. My skin needs all the nourishment it can get, and I soon realised it performed best for my perpetually dehydrated skin when applied after a hydrating serum and toner. Working a single pump of product into one area of the face at a time, layering until I reach my desired level of protection, now ensures a totally smooth finish with no pilling issues whatsoever. My skin is particularly dry, though, and Prism Protection should provide more than enough hydration on its own for the majority.
What Are The Results?
Of course, when it comes to SPF, you must remember the age old saying - prevention is better than cure. It's not a product that will dramatically transform your skin overnight in just one use, but it's working hard behind the scenes to protect your skin from future damage long term. But that's what so great about Prism Protection; it's more than a simple SPF. The SPF element of Prism Protection was put to the test on some particularly sunny days and no new signs of sun damage or pigmentation became apparent. I'm yet to develop sun spots or patches of melasma, but the freckles on my nose and cheeks are much less pronounced since incorporating Prism Protection into my daily regimen, and I haven't been using any other treatments designed to fade hyperpigmentation. I'm impressed!
After using the treatment daily for a number of weeks, I've really noticed a difference in how bright, clear and calm my complexion looks. My face may be dry, but my skin often overcompensates for a lack of natural oils by producing excess. The inclusion of niacinamide within the formula, an ingredient that I've never really prioritised before, has had a noticeable balancing effect, keeping my skin plump whilst reducing the build up of shine throughout the day (fewer powder touch-ups have been required). I didn't have much uneven skin texture to begin with so can't comment on the treatment's smoothing properties, but the redness across my nose and cheeks has diminished significantly. The priming element of the moisturiser is really blurring, too. My pores can be rather prominent, but Prism Protection definitely softens the look of them, which provides a confidence boost when going barefaced. I wouldn't solely rely on this product as a makeup primer for every occasion, but it's really effective at creating a smooth, hydrated canvas for everyday makeup wear.
Interestingly, my skin hasn't missed the usual lineup of numerous serums, essences, lotions and creams that previously featured in my AM routine and has thrived using Prism Protection. Don't get me wrong, I may wish to include an extra product to target specific skin concerns here and there (such as an exfoliant), but exclusively trialling Prism Protection for a few weeks proves that my skin doesn't need a 20-step regimen. One single formula can be enough to treat a plethora of skin concerns after all!
Is Prism Protection Worth Purchasing?
Heaven Skincare's Prism Protection SPF50+ Moisturiser costs £82 for 50ml. It is pricey and won't suit everyone's budget, but considering it does the job of multiple skincare products in one and allows you to simplify your morning routine, I do think it's worth the splurge if you're looking to invest. If you struggle to remain consistent with skincare due to rushed mornings, other priorities or forgetfulness but wish to achieve the results that quality skincare can provide, Prism Protection could be the perfect daily treatment for you. You'll no longer have the rigmarole of deciding which skincare products to use each morning, you won't have to question which separate products pair well together, and you won't have to spend 30 minutes applying them all. Prism Protection does all the hard work for you. Like myself, after totting up the total cost of your usual skincare purchases, you could even find that Prism Protection is a much more economical option for you!
