ZIIP HALO Nanocurrent Microcurrent Facial Toning Device Review Before After Results

Aside from treating myself to the odd professional facial here and there, I'm a DIY skincare girl. I don't want to be spending a fortune and hours a week travelling to clinics for regular advanced treatments, so instead I like to elevate my daily routine by equipping myself with skincare devices that replicate in-house aesthetic therapies and give me the results I'm looking for in the comfort of my own home. To tackle my ever-growing concern around skin sagging and jowl formation head on, I decided to give the ZIIP HALO Nanocurrent and Microcurrent Facial Toning Device* a try. This high-tech tool loved by celebs such as Margot Robbie promises to lift, sculpt, smooth, clear and brighten the skin, but is it the worth the investment? Read on for my thoughts, before/after results and a 10% off discount code...

What Makes The ZIIP HALO Special?

What separates the ZIIP HALO from other EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) devices is its patented dual waveform technology. It's the only device on the market which harnesses the power of both nanocurrent and microcurrent at different levels to treat a plethora of skin concerns both short and long term, including sagging and loss of elasticity, puffiness, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and uneven skin tone and texture. Microcurrents reach deep into the skin to stimulate facial muscles, clear bacteria and boost ATP production (a nucleotide that drives intercellular processes and improves skin function). They give an immediate lifted and contoured effect, and the results can last up to 72 hours. Nanocurrents are less intense but mimic the body's natural electrical impulses which signal the skin to rejuvenate. They work at surface level to promote longer-term cell renewal and increased collagen and elastin production.

How Do You Use The ZIIP HALO?

The way that the device works is really interesting. You don't just switch the ZIIP HALO on and swipe it across your face for three minutes to achieve the exact same results per session. The skincare tool is pre-loaded with a four-minute LIFT facial for convenience, but downloading the ZIIP app gives you access to a plethora of individual targeted treatments, full facials and longer-term itineraries. Whether you fancy focusing on one specific area, want to give your entire face some TLC by combining facials or prefer to follow a rigorous set protocol in the lead up to a special occasion, the ZIIP app offers it all. You can really personalise each ZIIP HALO session to achieve your desired results, which is amazing.

Applying four to eight pumps of conductive gel and covering all intended treatment areas sufficiently before getting started is a must to ensure the currents pass through the skin effectively. You receive the brand's Electric Complex Gel* with your purchase of the ZIIP HALO, which includes no actives and is therefore the perfect introductory product. It's fragrance free, non-irritating and helps the probes to effortlessly glide across the skin without pulling. If you want to supercharge your results even further, the brand also offers a range of more advanced ZIIP Conductive Gels.

After switching on the device and picking a facial on the app, it automatically syncs to your device via bluetooth. The videos are hosted by Melanie Simon (ZIIP Beauty's founder, expert electrical esthetician and celeb facialist) and she talks you through each treatment in detail. You can follow her lead, but your treatment starts as soon as the globes touch your skin and the device is guided by you rather than the video itself. The settings on the ZIIP HALO automatically change according to the facial you opt for. The treatments are all very different, varying in intensity and length (from two to 12 minutes) and utilising 26 different electrical combinations. Vibrations and beeps cleverly indicate how quickly to glide the HALO across the skin and when to move to a different area of the face, but you'll soon memorise the individual treatment patterns once you've completed each facial a few times.

How Often & When Should You Use The ZIIP HALO?

Of course, as with all skincare products, consistency is key when using the ZIIP HALO, and the brand advises using the device three to five times a week in order to maximise results. Personally, I like to stack around four treatments per session, focusing on my entire face, however you can keep it short and sweet if you're low on time or want to target a specific skin concern. Looking for a quick but intense session? Try THE LIFT or CONTOUR. Prefer an all-in-one wonder treatment? Go for ALL INCLUSIVE. Skin looking dull? ELECTRIC TONE will brighten. Worried about your jawline heading south? JOWLS has your back. Have a few blemishes cropped up in the run up to a big event? PROBLEM SOLVER will help to clear them. Honestly, whatever your need, the ZIIP HALO takes care of it all and more.

I was slightly unsure of when to incorporate the ZIIP HALO treatments into my skincare routine at first. As your skin needs to be completely clean and dry before applying the conductive gel, I find it best to carry out the facials immediately after my morning or evening cleanse. You just have to ensure that any oil-based cleansers are thoroughly removed prior to use as residues can hinder the HALO's efficacy. After treatment, I simply rinse off any excess gel from my face (I find it too greasy to leave on) and clean the device with an antibacterial wipe before carrying on with the rest of my routine.

What To Expect

The ZIIP HALO is actually much smaller and lighter than I expected, but this allows the tool to really hug the contours of the face for maximum sculpting power. For the facial toning element to work, the two silver globes must make contact with the skin at all times, and it's key to always apply firm, steady pressure in upwards and outwards motions. With the conductive gel on your skin and the HALO being compact and curved, things can get quite slippery. It can take a while to get used to moving the device around the face in order for it to have full contact with the skin, but take your time and you'll soon master the technique.

When the device emits nanocurrent, rejuvenation happens at a cellular level, so you don't necessarily feel much other than a slight warming sensation. As the waveforms intensify towards microcurrent, your muscles can vibrate, tingle and involuntarily twitch. Although the sensations are never painful, it can feel slightly uncomfortable if you've missed a spot when applying the conductive gel or pass over an area of broken skin, so that's something to be aware of. After six weeks of continued use, you should notice that your face is more toned, contoured, glowing, balanced and smooth with a reduction in lines and wrinkles, but is this really the case?

My 30-Day ZIIP HALO Results

After using the ZIIP HALO consistently for a month, my skin definitely looks and feels more toned, tight and sculpted. As results are cumulative and you don't ever treat only one side of your face, it can be difficult to initially track any progress, so the results suddenly crept up on me. Whilst I noticed a subtle change in definition and lift after each use to begin with, it was actually the process of applying full glam makeup for a special occasion that made me realise just how big the transformation has been, especially to the lower half of my face. Everything is just so much more 'snatched'. It previously took me ages to achieve a precise finish when applying contour and bronzer to my cheekbones and jawline as my cheeks have always been quite full and round. The sections tended to merge together, and it was a faff to carve out any definition, but I was blown away by how easy it was to contour my side profile due to how much more sculpted and pronounced my cheekbones and jawline were. The lower half of my face has definitely slimmed out - it's like all the inflammation and puffiness has drained away. I can really feel the improvement in firmness and tone when applying my skincare products, too.

And it's not only me that's noticed. My husband, who is usually oblivious when it comes to anything beauty related, has made a few unprompted comments on how great my skin has been looking, and I recently received a lovely compliment from someone who asked if I'd been doing anything differently. The ZIIP HALO is the only new product that I've introduced into my routine. So, if you're thinking of having tweakments to enhance your facial contours, you may want to try the ZIIP HALO first to see if it can plump and define your face naturally without needing to go down a more invasive route. I'm yet to develop any significant wrinkles, so I can't really attest to how effective the ZIIP Halo is at reducing them, but I have noticed a very slight improvement in my crow's feet lines after only a month, as shown above. I can wholeheartedly recommend the device for its firming and toning abilities, though. As you'll be able to see in my immediate results photo, the device is great at de-puffing and awakening tired eyes, and my skin is always left glowing and super smooth after rinsing off the conductive gel. You can end up with some redness from increased blood circulation, but it soon calms. I'm a big fan of at-home skincare devices, but the ZIIP HALO is by far the most impressive I've tried so far when used religiously.

Whilst the ZIIP HALO Advanced Facial Toning Device is a pricey device at £379.99, professional EMS treatments can cost upwards of £100 per session, so it provides a more affordable way of incorporating nano and microcurrent technology into your skincare routine. I've become addicted to using the ZIIP HALO as the results are just what I'm looking for. The immediate effects of microcurrent waveforms help to improve the look of my skin day-to-day, and I love knowing that the nanocurrent technology is working to keep my skin looking youthful long term. I'm under no illusion that this device is going to give me the facial structure of Hailey Bieber (unfortunately), but my skin confidence is at an all-time high after using the ZIIP HALO for just 30 days. I can't wait to see how things improve further, and I'll make sure to update you again on future progress. If you manage your expectations and are willing to invest the time into using the device regularly, then I really think it'll be a great addition to your skincare regimen. Every little helps, right?
