MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush Review + Swatch

Whilst I have an abundant collection of blushes in my stash and can't help but buy more whenever another stunning shade or formula catches my eye, I have a small selection that I wear time and time again. MAC's Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul is definitely up there with some of my all-time favourite cheek colours. It could even take my number one spot...

Being so obsessed with blush and having so many different options in my collection, it's extremely rare for me to finish an entire pan, let alone hit the bottom of one. Aside from any favourites that have smashed and needed replacing, the only blush I've ever fully finished and repurchased is MAC's Warm Soul. Not just once but three times. Speaks volumes, really, doesn't it?

This blush is just so easy to wear. A pinky-beige shade shot through with gold shimmer, MAC's Warm Soul Mineralize Blush is a colour that flatters all skin-tones. Although it has a pink hue to it, the colour is on the neutral side and simply adds a touch of healthy, natural-looking warmth to the cheeks. It's chic and sophisticated. For anyone paler, the pink tone will stand out more, and for those with much darker skin, it makes a stunning highlight. The finely-milled shimmer also adds a soft-focus, luminous glow to your cheeks, allowing you to skip a separate highlighter if you want to keep your routine to a minimum.

No matter the makeup look you create, you can guarantee that MAC'S Warm Soul will always complement something bolder or more pared back. It's one of those blushes that never steals the limelight from your eyes or lips but suddenly pulls everything together and polishes off your base. Not only does the baked formula create that gorgeous, marbled effect, but it means that the pigmentation is soft and sheer, so it's nigh on impossible to apply too much colour in one go. You'll never end up looking like a clown with this one. To achieve a stronger finish, you can layer the product effortlessly without it looking dry and powdery.

Texture-wise, the blush is quite firm and almost chalky to the touch, but that's common with most baked formulas. Despite the slightly drier consistency, the blush applies smoothly, blends completely evenly and feels like velvet on the skin. When swirling your brush across the pan, some excess is kicked up, but as long as you make sure to tap it off before applying, there isn't a problem with shimmery fall-out leaving you looking like a disco ball.

I've always considered MAC to sit somewhere in the middle of the high-street and high-end markets, but the brand is fond of regularly (and sharply) increasing their prices when you're not expecting it. Over the years, the price of MAC's Mineralize Blushes has soared to £28 each, which is a pretty hefty jump from when I bought my first compact. Considering I'm head over heels in love with Warm Soul and it's a total necessity in my makeup bag, I do think it's worth the money and I've happily continued to repurchase it to ensure I always have a backup in my collection.
