It's silly that sporting a bright, coral lip on a sunny day instantly makes me feel happier, but it does. There's something about the peachy-pink shade that just screams summer and, now that June has arrived, there's going to be a coral colour permanently plastered on my pout. So, I thought I'd share with you the current trio residing in my makeup bag that suit varying budgets.
My favourite, budget option comes in the form of Bourjois' Shine Edition Lipstick in 1,2,3 Soleil. Out of my three picks, this coral leans the most orange. Having the strongest level of pigment, it's also the most vivid, verging on neon. The super creamy formula feels nourishing, without being sticky, but be warned, it can create a bit of mess when eating/drinking/smooching. For an even application, lips need to be totally flake-free, as it can cling to dry patches and exaggerate them slightly. Depending on what you're doing, the shine finish disappears after a couple of hours, but the lips are left with a tint of colour that stays put. If you're confident with wearing a statement lip, then I'm sure this intense shade will float your boat.
Sitting somewhere between my affordable and blow-out options, is the Clarins Joli Rouge Briliant Lipstick in 20 Coral Tulip. Toning down the brightness level a notch, this choice would be perfect for those who want something less in-your-face. Flecked with silver shimmer, this lipstick has an added plumping effect and makes the lips appear bigger, but the finish isn't at all frosty or unflattering. It's no surprise that the formula just melts onto the lips and feels very moisturising, as this range of lipsticks is packed with mango butter and tripeptides. This Clarins creation even has a fruity fragrance that smells good enough to eat, which is always a bonus!
If you're feeling spendy and fancy a splurge, then the Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Riviera is one of the most coveted lipsticks in my collection. Sheer in terms of texture, this lipstick feels balmy and weightless, yet delivers a subtle tint that can be built into an intense rush of pigment. 'Riviera' has more of a pink undertone to it, but still has that bright edge that you want from a coral. You can definitely tell that this is a luxurious product, as the translucent colour looks the smoothest and most natural when worn somehow, making it one of my most reached-for shades. Even if you don't look in a mirror to apply, the fool-proof formula ensures the finish always looks perfect and never patchy. Fading evenly, after a few hours of wear, a soft stain of colour is left behind. Just look at that stunning packaging, too.
