I'm the type of girl that gets bored easily with my beauty routines and I tend to flit between products on an everyday basis, so it speaks volumes when I continually reach for one particular product and willingly repurchase it in multiple shades, time and again. One base that definitely takes a spot in my top 5 all-time favourite foundations/tinted moisturisers and barely ever leaves my makeup bag, is the Diorskin Nude BB Creme. Whenever I want natural-looking base that still gives me great coverage, then this is my first choice.

I think we'd all agree that the perfect foundation or tinted moisturiser would create a flawless canvas, a natural second-skin finish and help the skin to look healthy, plumped and glowing, all whilst lasting well for the whole day. For me, the Diorskin Nude BB Creme ticks all of those boxes. Although it's sheer and lightweight in consistency, the coverage of this base is surprisingly generous. It's a soft, perfecting coverage that creates a uniformed skin-tone and almost blurred effect. It leaves the complexion looking natural and skin-like, with a soft-focus finish. The skin is enhanced, rather than hidden. It creates the kind of ethereal finish I envisage supermodels having - fresh, luminous and just so healthy.

Being a BB cream, as opposed to a foundation, the sheerer texture feels so hydrating and refreshing. What makes this formula slightly different from the majority of tinted moisturisers, is that the finish has more of a satin sheen to it. It's radiant and glowing, but it's definitely not dewy. Skin is left looking so plumped and juicy after using it, without teetering on the edge of too shiny or greasy-looking. Like all of Dior's bases, it is quite highly-fragranced. However, whilst the scent appears to be quite strong initially after pumping it out, the fragrance soon dissipates once it's been blended onto the skin. Containing SPF 10, it provides a small amount of protection from the sun, but it isn't so much that it affects flash photography.

I always worry when using more hydrating, sheer formulas, that they'll look great straight after application, but will disappear into nothing after a few hours. Thankfully, this one lasts so well, even without setting with powder. As the finish isn't wet or glossy, it almost sets itself in place. But, bear in mind that my skin is on the dry side to begin with, so you may want to use powder for extra longevity and security if you have an oilier skin-type. Honestly, I could apply this base with my eyes closed. Blending seamlessly in seconds, it just melts on to the skin and is totally undetectable, no matter which tools you use to apply it. It's the perfect base to use when you only have five minutes to get ready, as it smooths on so effortlessly and requires very little patience as you work it into the skin.

The only thing that frustrates me about this BB creme and, in fact, many tinted moisturisers on the market, is that the shade range is so limited. Dior only offer this base in a measly four shades and they all lean either very pink or yellow-toned, depending on which shade you pick. Unfortunately, the shades don't cater for everyone - I have pretty fair skin and even I have to buy two shades, 001 and 002, to mix up my perfect match. But, you can get away with wearing a shade that's slightly lighter or darker than your skin, if you really blend it thoroughly. The one bonus of having two shades means that I can use it all year round, with the lighter option being a good match for my winter skin-tone and 002 being perfect for when I have a hint of a natural tan.

As always with Dior, the design of the tube is simple, sleek and sophisticated. Would you expect any less? Unusually for a tinted moisturiser, the Dior BB Creme packaging features an in-built pump, which dispenses the perfectly-sized drop of product for a full-face application. This genius addition prevents you from squeezing out too much product and wasting it, it keeps everything mess-free and hygienic, and it makes the tube even more convenient for travel.

At £33 for 30ml, it's certainly a premium beauty balm that doesn't come cheap. But, I really do think that the finish is so worth the extra expense and a tube lasts for just as long as I find my foundations do. It's the best tinted moisturiser I've ever tried and I'll continue to repurchase it until it's no longer available (touch wood it doesn't get discontinued any time soon!). If you couldn't tell, this is an absolute holy-grail product for me and it's definitely one to pop on your wishlist, if you haven't tried it already!

  1. This is one of my favourite bases too! I've had a tube of it forever and don't use it regularly because of the cost but every time I get it back out I remember how good it is.
