Clomaná Beauty, formerly Coco Cosmetics by Chloe, is a brand that has skyrocketed across social media and the beauty industry in recent years. Among a whole host of other beauty products that Chloe now offers, her best-selling Marshmallow Sponge has become a must-have product loved by professional makeup artists and stocked by many huge retailers.

The brand really hit the nail on the head when naming their Marshmallow Sponges. They are so unbelievably ultra-soft and squidgy that they really do resemble the sweet treat, and no others I've tried have compared in terms of texture. That fluffy, velvety feel isn't lost with regular washing, either. When dampened (my preferred way to use them), the sponges double in size and feel even more lightweight, which doesn't quite seem possible. The latex-free material is so gentle on the skin that, no matter how aggressively you bounce the sponges across the face when in a hurry to get ready, there's no irritation. They glide over the skin so softly that all you're left with is a completely smooth, streak-free finish. Just perfect. I don't often use sponges to apply powder as I have dry skin and prefer to add a light dusting to only my T-zone with a fluffy brush, however the refined surface of the Marshmallow Sponge helps to create a totally smooth result with no chalky residues left behind when setting or baking, particularly under the eyes.

Shape 1 has a classic teardrop design with one flattened side and is the perfect tool to achieve a more precise application. I'll reach for it when I have a bit more time to apply my makeup and want to look particularly put together. The flat side allows you to cover larger areas quickly, the pointed tip allows you to get into more difficult-to-reach areas (e.g., sides of the nostrils, inner corners of the eyes and around the brows), and the rounded base allows you to stipple blushes, bronzers and highlights across any high points of the face for a natural, soft-focus blend. You can even give the sponge a squeeze lengthways to make it narrower along the flat edge for applying your contour. Shape 1 is a great all rounder, basically!

Shape 2 is much larger and rounder, with a soft point on top and flat base. It's also available in mini and mega sizes, which I'm eager to also try. The original Shape 2 sponge is the one I opt for when I'm either wanting a more pared back, lighter finish to my base and don't need to be as detailed in my application or I'm in a rush and have to get my makeup on in a matter of seconds. I'm talking everyday makeup for popping to the shops, when I just want to quickly slap on a touch of tinted moisturiser to look a bit more presentable. I'm talking holiday makeup, when I'm looking for a sheer, glowy finish from a simple bronzing serum or skin tint. The application doesn't need to be perfect, yet somehow the final result always turns out well because the sponge takes care of all the hard work for you. The size of the Shape 2 sponge means that you can essentially cover your entire face in just a couple of dabs, and products just blend into the skin with no effort required. It's the sponge that the beauty world has been missing!

To keep your makeup tools in top form, the brand also has a range of Dual Scented Brush and Sponge Cleansers* to pair with their sponges. There are five different scents to choose from - Chocolate and Orange, Chocolate and Strawberry, Cookies and Cream, Lemon and Lime, and Orange and Mango. I usually prefer my sponge/brush cleansers to smell fresh instead of sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Chocolate and Strawberry fragrance. Not only does the multicoloured soap look gorgeous and smell divine, which makes the chore of washing your brushes and sponges much more enjoyable, but it also keeps makeup tools looking and feeling brand new. The nourishing formula easily and effectively rids your sponges of any traces of makeup, leaving them soft and conditioned rather than dry. No embarrassing foundation stains are left behind, so you aren't ever left unsure as to whether a sponge has been washed or not. Another benefit of Clomaná Beauty's soaps is that each tin contains a patterned silicone mat in the lid, which you can use to build up a thick lather and scrub your brushes into for an even deeper clean. At £18 each, I do think the Dual-Scented Brush and Sponge Cleansers appear fairly expensive at first glance, however I find the solid formula and silicone pad combination much more effective at cleansing than liquid alternatives (baby shampoo is my usual go-to). You also get 100g of product per tin, which is a lot for this kind of product.

The Shape 1 and 2 Marshmallow Sponges are priced at £10 each individually, which is pricier than some high-street brands' offerings but significantly cheaper than those from more established, luxury brands. Considering the unique designs and textures of the Clomaná Beauty Marshmallow Sponges, I don't think the price point is half bad for such high-quality beauty tools that will last if you look after them. And think about it - if you're spending £30 plus on your foundation, you need to use a quality tool that will help that foundation to perform as well as it should.
