On a lovely trip to Chester the other day, I initially went into Debenhams to repurchase a few MAC essentials. Being the weak individual that I am, I was inevitably drawn to the Dior counter. After umm-ing and ahh-ing for what seemed like hours according to my boyfriend - I'd say it was actually about 10 minutes, maximum - I decided to purchase a gorgeous palette of five eyeshadows and another Rouge Dior Nude lipstick. Now to show you my wares...

Dior offers a wide variety of different colours and finishes within their 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette range. Personally, I tend to go for neutral colours in palettes and purchase brighter colours individually as I reach for them a lot less. My choice this time round, Earth Reflection, contains five shimmery shadows, which may not be to everyone's taste, but I just couldn't resist it, especially as metallics are always a trend in A/W. Each shade is cool-toned, unlike the majority of bronze/brown eyeshadows that I already own, which is what makes this palette stand out in my collection.

All of the colours in these palettes are chosen to complement each other, which makes them so versatile as you can create a variety of looks by pairing the five shades differently. Both at home and when travelling, they have you covered for every eventuality - a quick wash of one colour all over for everyday wear, a vampy smokey eye using only the darker tones, or maybe a combination of all five for a blended gradient effect. Dior's eyeshadows are soft, smooth and blend ridiculously easily. The two darker shades along with the frosted pink and white in the Earth Reflection palette are all strongly pigmented, so it takes minimal effort to build depth/highlight with them. The pale off-white shadow provides more of a sheer layer of sparkle and looks great either worn alone for a pretty, subtle finish or on top of others for added glitz.

As expected from such a luxury brand, the packaging of the 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes is sleek and sophisticated. The eyeshadows themselves are printed with the quilted Dior Cannage pattern and iconic CD lettering, which adds even more of a premium touch. Of course, such a high-end eyeshadow palette is going to sit at the expensive end of the spectrum, and it certainly does at £40. It is a lot to pay, but the price tag is a little easier to swallow when considering you can create a plethora of different looks depending on how you combine the five eyeshadows.

When I last wrote about the Rouge Dior Lipsticks, I mentioned that I had my eye on a couple of the other shades, Twill and Esquisse. After much deliberation at the Dior counter, I eventually plumped for the lipstick that headlines the collection, Grege. To be honest, it was the absolutely divine campaign images of Natalie Portman sporting the shade that sold the stunning, soft peachy nude to me. Based on the shade name, I'd expected Grege to be a very pale, cool-toned beige, but it's actually my perfect nude. Although the shade is lighter than my natural lip colour, the warm undertones prevent it from washing me out. And the texture... It's just divine - lightweight yet creamy and nourishing. The formula just makes my lips look and feel better than any other lipstick I've tried (so plumped)! I absolutely adore the Rouge Dior Lipsticks and to find out why in even more depth, check out my Rouge Dior Sillage Lipstick review.
